The Makossa Cookout began in 2010 as an intimate affair in a small Brooklyn, New York backyard. Since then, the party has enjoyed a rapid, organic growth, expanded to Los Angeles and is now a premier summer destination, recognized by Time Out New York as one of the 20 Best Summer Soirees in New York. It is our ability to traverse many genres throughout the duration of the gathering that is our trademark and biggest appeal. Drinks, games, and a food menu featuring the best of what summertime has to offer rounds out the experience. Past partnerships with local, renowned chefs and restaurants include bicoastal popup Gentry Chicken, Chef Roy Choi's Pot at the Line Hotel (LA), and Mrs. Dorsey's Kitchen (NY).

For the Culture is a collaboration between Brooklyn's finest chef's Santana Caress Benitez for I'll Cook Like Your Mother and Jade's Jade of All Jades.
Jade is a purveyor of all things Black and beautiful and draws inspiration from a lineage of amazing cooks and chefs. Her tastes are rooted in Southern, Latin, and Caribbean cuisine
Chef Santana Caress Benitez is a Food Network 'Chopped' Champion who received her Culinary + Culinary Management diplomas from The Institute of Culinary Education in New York City.

The National expansion and subsequent success demonstrates that Makossa Cookout is an event that appeals to many adults seeking an alternate experience that features dancing to the music they love, but also incorporates features such as custom cuisine, camaraderie and a more casual environment in a daytime setting.
